Nostalgic Galentine's Party Inspiration
This one is for all you vintage lovers out there! There is just a certain charm & romance to antique pieces. We love em for the sense of nostalgia they bring. We could spend hours lost in an antique store tucked away on a back country road. We have realized that when it comes to parties, vintage elements can create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that will leave an impression on you and your guests.
When planning this Galentine’s Party, we wanted it to feel different from the typical red and pink you always see, while also evoking the happy memories of the good old days exchanging valentines with friends at school. We are still obsessed with conversation hearts and love their muted hues in peaches, yellows and lavender. So instead of just incorporating conversation hearts into our tablescape, they inspired the whole color scheme for our party!
We scoured antique stores and Etsy for vintage valentines, we got lost looking at the illustrations and old love notes:) We collected a bunch, without being sure exactly how we’d use them. We ended up hanging the antique valentines from silk and velvet ribbons along with blooms to create the whimsical statement piece above our sofa—the perfect photo op! Imagine this over a tablescape too, so fun! We hung everything on an old ladder that we suspended with twine from hooks in our ceiling, but this could easily be duplicated working off a chandelier in your house too.
We went for lots of layers on our tablescape with a silk runner and ceramic and glass votives to set the tone. To infuse some vintage vibes we swapped out graphic paper napkins for antique handkerchiefs. The colors and patterns of each hankie added so much interest to our table scape and each guest was tickled to see their own unique one on each plate. Beautiful little trinket boxes and bowls were overflowing with little candies for the gals to nibble on which they chatted amongst the soft fluffy floral centerpieces.
Every good party has a great playlist. And what’s more nostalgic then the soft crackling of the record player? We rounded up our favorite female artists to really get the Galentine’s vibes going. Every good party not only has a great playlist, but a delicious signature cocktail- and bonus points if there is a fun garnish like a macaron on the rim! We clinked our vintage coupes together as we chatted away on our tufted sofa. A Galentine’s day dream come true!
Flowers have been used to express our feelings since the beginning of time. Their scents can immediately transport us back to a different time or place. The cherry on top of our party was treating our guests to a fresh flower bouquet from Wild Botanical’s Flower Cart. First can we just say, how cute is the cart in our cottage? Each gal picked her favorites from a section of blooms, wrapped them up in brown paper tied with twine and was able to take them home to enjoy! Flowers are always a perfect party favor, the smell of the blooms in the days after will remind them of what a fun event it was!
As always, we can never party without the help of some incredible vendor friends! They are so talented at what they do and would be the perfect people to call if you are throwing a party or special event!
