How To Make Floral Ice Cubes
The saying “it’s all in the details” couldn’t be more true when it comes to throwing a shower or soiree! The smallest of details can take you from a regular get-together with friends to a photo-worthy celebration! One detail we love (for obvious reasons) is floral ice cubes. They are easy to make and pack a major punch (no pun intended haha) to your beverage bar! We’re going to show you how in a few simple steps!
HERE IS WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Silicone Ice Cube Tray. The rocks sized ice cube tray works best as they’re a lot larger and you can fit more blooms in each cube! You’ll want to make sure you purchase one with a lid for easy stacking. Plus the lid will help keep the blooms from floating above the waterline of the ice cubes.
A variety of blooms. The more colors and shapes you have, the prettier your cubes will turn out! Try spray roses or mini carnations, small blooms from delphinium or stock, petals and a textured flower like wax flower or babies breath!
Water & a freezer.
3 EASY STEPS TO CREATE YOUR CUBES:
Cut the blooms off right at the stem and open the petals gently if needed.
Fill your ice cube tray with the various blooms. Don’t worry too much about placement, because everything will shift when you pour the water in. Fill generously— you can really pack in a lot of blooms for the best results!
Top your ice cube tray off with water and close the lid. Freeze for at least 24 hours to make sure the larger cubes are solid the whole way through! Don’t freeze for longer than 48 hours though, as the colors of the flowers will fade out in the freezer over time.
When it’s party time, toss the cubes in a beautiful champagne bucket or drink cooler! Since we’re using fresh flowers, you’ll want these to remain more decorative and we recommend not placing the cubes in each guests drinking cup. If you have a vision of floral ice cubes in each drink, make sure the flower ingredients you want to use are edible first!
