DIY: Dried Flower Ornament
We’ve got an easy breezy DIY for you today! Take a moment from the hustle and bustle to create this beautiful dried flower ornament for yourself or a loved one! In just a few minutes time you can have a handful of unique ornaments to remember the trends of today or a special event that you dried your flowers from.
what you’ll need…
flowers. A little goes a long way with the dried flowers here! It doesn’t take much to fill the ornaments so really go for those smaller, textural flowers. If you have larger blooms like a rose or peony, you could use the individual petals and sprinkle those in the mix. Sprigs of greenery, small blooms like hydrangea petals, or even babies breath (looks like freshly fallen snow) are great choices for this!
ornaments. Be sure to use clear ornaments with a removable lid. When you’re picking these out, remember the smaller the opening at the top the more difficult it is to get the dried flowers through! You can find these at a craft store or on amazon! We love the lightbulb shape!
ribbon. Have fun with the textures and colors! Velvet is our favorite for a wintery ornament, but any ribbon or twine you have will do!
the process
Carefully fill the ornaments with small bits of dried flowers. Layer with different blooms or fill them with just one type! You can’t go wrong. Just be sure to be gentle as dried flowers are very delicate! Once you have the desired amount of fill to the ornament tie it off with your ribbon of choice. We like to leave a lot of slack to make a nice loopy bow at the top!
How fun! And how easy, right?? These make a beautiful gift too! Enjoy :)
