Welcome to The Flower Cottage Journal

Hello friends!  Welcome to our new blog :)

In case we haven’t met, we’re Julie & Bethany, 2 sisters who started a biz flowering weddings called Sapphire & Lace Design.  For the past 8 years we’ve spent April-December elbow deep in beautiful blooms designing for our wonderful wedding clients. You’ll find us on the weekends driving U-haul vans around the Pittsburgh area setting up some truly stunning events!

When we’re not designing weddings we’re hanging out at our studio space, The Flower Cottage, where we meet with clients and host workshops or private events.

Sooo, why did we start a blog?

Because we have so much to share. Too much to try and fit in those tiny squares on the gram and ticks on our stories!

We have thousands of blooms coming through our doors every week! We are typically flowering around 50 events a year at venues all over the city! We’re constantly styling and re-designing our space for shoots or private events! And our content is not just a feast for the eyes, we also have tons of expertise to share with you about flowers, weddings, interior design, and hosting so that you can bring beauty, blooms, and inspiration to your own space too.

Whether you need tips for making your flowers last longer in a vase, or inspiration for redecorating your home, or you’re a bride who needs advice about wedding etiquette or how to get your wedding featured in online publications or magazines— you can expect to see and read all of that here. We are calling it The Flower Cottage Journal— a peek inside what we’re working on—a space for us to share our DIY’s and how-to’s, gorgeous wedding inspiration, interior design ideas & much more!

This week we’re celebrating our 4th anniversary of moving into The Flower Cottage and we’re feeling nostalgic and reflective. The Flower Cottage has really transformed along with our business these past 4 years and we’ll be sharing more about what makes it so special in our next post :) If you’re going to be following along please say hi or ask a question in the comments—we’re so grateful you’re here!
