5 Things You'd Never Know About Wedding Florists
5 things you’d never know about wedding florists
1. Powered by Caffeine and Treats (and a Lot of Heavy Lifting)
We always laugh when people picture us in the well-lit upstairs of The Flower Cottage, sipping tea in sundresses and leisurely designing flowers. The reality is a little more... chaotic. Making one arrangement is one thing, but making 20-30 of the same thing—on top of everything else—in a short time span? That’s a whole different ballgame. We love it, but caffeine and treats are a must to keep us going!
2. We Dream About Your Wedding
Sometimes it’s a beautiful, creative vision coming together. Other times, it’s a full-blown anxiety dream about making your perfect day happen with a perishable product and a million moving parts. No pressure!! But truly, we care so deeply about making your wedding everything they’ve imagined and more.
3. We Get Asked A LOT of Random Questions On-Site
Maybe it’s the matching shirts, maybe it’s that we’re always buzzing around, but people seem to think we have all the answers. We get asked everything—from where the cake should be stored to where the venue restrooms are. We always train our team to be team players, so even if we don’t know the answer, we’ll find someone who does. So yes, sometimes we’re fielding timeline questions from other vendors, moving our truck for the caterers, or directing lost guests. All in a day’s work!
4. We Can Drive a 26’ Box Truck
Parking a massive truck in downtown Pittsburgh? Backing it into a tight loading dock? Maneuvering it through the Cottage parking lot? No problem!! Almost every wedding setup requires at least a 15’ truck, and let’s just say it’s not just filled with flowers... If you want to know everything that's going into our truck on wedding days, read this blog post here.
5. Our Most-Used Items? Zip Ties and Bungee Cords
Sure, clippers are practically glued to our hips, but we never leave for a wedding setup without zip ties and bungee cords. Curious what else is in our emergency kit? Shop our running list here.
Event floristry is a mix of art, logistics, and a little bit of magic. It’s long days, heavy lifting, and quick problem-solving, but it’s also seeing a couple’s face light up when they see their flowers for the first time. So, while we may be running on caffeine, snacks, and sheer determination, we wouldn’t have it any other way!
